About the Journal
Medical Insights and Case Reports publishes original, high-quality scholarly work that advances medical knowledge through the dissemination of clinically significant observations, case reports, case series, clinical research, and evidence-based reviews. The journal prioritizes contributions that enhance understanding of disease presentation, diagnosis, treatment, patient outcomes, and healthcare practices across all medical specialties.
Submissions should provide meaningful clinical insights, educational value, or novel perspectives that contribute to improved patient care and medical decision-making. The journal particularly welcomes reports of rare diseases, unusual clinical manifestations, innovative therapeutic approaches, diagnostic challenges, adverse drug reactions, and multidisciplinary clinical experiences.
All manuscripts must be scientifically rigorous, ethically compliant, methodologically sound, and presented with clarity, accuracy, and professional integrity.
Article types accepted
1. Original articles
Original Articles should report novel research findings supported by strong experimental, theoretical, or computational evidence with clear mechanistic interpretation.
- Abstract: required
- Word limit: Up to 3000 words (excluding Abstract and References)
- Structure:
Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgements (if any), Author Contributions, References - Tables/Figures: As appropriate to support the text
2. Review articles
Review Articles should provide a critical and balanced synthesis of existing literature, highlighting mechanistic understanding, research gaps, and future directions.
- Abstract and Keywords: Required
- Word limit: Up to 5000 words (excluding Abstract and References)
- References: Maximum 60
- Structure: Sectioned with suitable headings and sub-headings
- Note: Prior consultation with the Reviews Editor is recommended before submission
3. Short communications
Short Communications report concise but significant findings of immediate scientific relevance.
- Word limit: Up to 2000 words
- References: Maximum 15
- Tables/Figures: Maximum 3 (combined)
- Abstract: Optional but recommended
4. Letters to the Editor
Letters may address previously published articles or present brief scientific observations.
- Abstract and Keywords: Not required
- Headings: Not permitted
- Word limit: Up to 800 words
- References: Maximum 5
- Tables/Figures: One table or one figure permitted
Manuscript preparation
General formatting
- Font: Times New Roman
- Font size: 11.5
- Line spacing: 1.5 throughout (including references)
- Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides
- Page numbers: Mandatory
- Language: English (UK or US, consistent throughout)
Authors whose first language is not English are advised to ensure appropriate language editing prior to submission.
Title page
The title page must include:
- Concise and informative title
- Full names of all authors
- Institutional affiliations
- Corresponding author’s email address
- ORCID IDs (recommended)
Abstract and Keywords
- The abstract should briefly describe the background, objective, methodology, key findings, and conclusions
- Citations should not be included in the abstract
- Provide 3–6 keywords, avoiding words already used in the title
Ethical considerations
Human and animal studies
Manuscripts involving human participants or animals must clearly state:
- Name of the approving ethics committee
- Approval number
- Confirmation of informed consent (where applicable)
- Compliance with national and international ethical guidelines
For clinical studies, trial registration details (registry name and registration number) must be provided.
Conflict of interest
All authors must disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest.
If none exist, include the statement:
“The authors declare no conflict of interest.”
Funding statement
All sources of funding must be clearly acknowledged. If the study received no specific funding, this should be explicitly stated.
Author contributions
All authors must clearly specify their individual contributions, such as study design, experimentation, data analysis, manuscript preparation, and final approval of the submitted version.
Acknowledgements
Authors may acknowledge individuals, institutions, or organizations that contributed to the work but do not meet the criteria for authorship.
Data integrity, statistics, and reproducibility
Authors must ensure:
- Accurate and honest presentation of data
- No fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate image manipulation
- Clear description of statistical methods, including software used, number of replicates, and significance levels
- Availability of raw data upon reasonable request
Figures and Tables
- Figures and tables must be cited in the text in numerical order
- Each figure and table must include a clear title and legend
- Images should be of high resolution and publication quality
- Data should not be duplicated between tables and figures
References
Citation Style
- In-text citations should appear in brackets with author name(s) and year
- Example: (Lewis et al., 2025) or (Sharma and Rao, 2022)
- Reference list must follow APA style
Reference list formatting
- Arrange references alphabetically by first author’s surname
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of citations
- Use Times New Roman, 12 font size, and 1.5 line spacing
Plagiarism and originality
Submitted manuscripts must be original and not under consideration elsewhere. The journal follows strict plagiarism screening procedures. Manuscripts with unacceptable similarity will be rejected without review.
Peer review process
All submissions undergo:
- Initial editorial screening
- Single-blind peer review by subject experts
- Final decision by the Editor-in-Chief
Authors may be requested to revise their manuscript based on reviewer comments.
Manuscript submission
All manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s official online submission system. Submissions sent by email will not be considered.
Submission Declaration
By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that:
- The work is original
- All authors have approved the submission
- Ethical standards have been met
- The manuscript complies with all journal policies
Copyright and open access
upon acceptance, authors will be informed about copyright terms and applicable open-access policies of the journal.
Final Editorial note
The journal encourages submissions that demonstrate mechanistic depth, methodological transparency, and scientific integrity. Manuscripts meeting these standards will receive priority consideration.
