Yashwanth Narayana, M.Sc

Bridging wet-lab functional genomics with computational biology, Yashwanth N. is an M.Sc. Biotechnology student at SRM Institute of Science and Technology and an honors graduate from Jain (Deemed-to-be) University. His work sits at the intersection of plant molecular systems, transcriptomics, and structural bioinformatics. Through research initiatives at Jain University and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), he has driven plant genomics investigations, evaluating AP2/ERF transcription factors in Catharanthus roseus, analyzing cis-regulatory networks in Samanea saman using Virus-Induced Gene Silencing (VIGS), and exploring cold plasma interventions to optimize seed germination and oil yield in Ricinus communis. To complement his experimental skills in plant tissue culture and genetic workflows, Yashwanth completed industry training at Insilicomics Research Pvt. Ltd., developing computational pipelines, executing molecular docking and dynamics simulations, and analyzing transcriptome and proteome datasets via Bash scripting. Driven by an entrepreneurial mindset, he also co-founded Biosynnovation Technologies and co-invented the patented Electroluminator device. Overall, his multidisciplinary profile merges computational modeling with practical plant biotechnology to solve complex biological questions.
